Quick tip: Turn off the Xbox, remove the batteries from the controller, and it's unpaired! Old school but effective.

From my experience, the easiest way is to connect the controller to another device, like a PC or another Xbox. It immediately unpairs from the Series X.

Just hold the sync button on the controller for a few seconds until the light starts flashing - it should unpair!

Go to your Xbox settings, find 'Devices & connections,' then 'Accessories,' and you can unpair the controller from there.
