You can also update via a USB drive. Download the update from the PlayStation website, save it in a 'PS4' > 'UPDATE' folder, and then plug it into your PS4. In Safe Mode, select 'Update System Software' and follow the steps. It's a bit like a secret handshake but for your console!

Updating through a game disc always works too. Pop in a new game, and if there's an update available, it'll prompt you to install it. Way to multitask!
