Actually, it might be faster to reinstall the game. Sometimes updates just get stuck. Worked for me last time!

First, make sure your Steam client is open. If the game doesn't auto-update, right-click on Sonic Forces in your library, select 'Properties,' then go to the 'Updates' tab and check your settings there!
No need to overthink it. Open Steam, it should auto-update.
Easy peasy! Just open your game client (Steam, Epic Games, etc.), and it should auto-update if connected to the internet. If not, right-click the game and select 'Update.'
