Updating Splatoon 2 to version 4 is a breeze! Just make sure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet. Then, go to the HOME Menu, select the game, and if an update prompt doesn't appear, press the + button and select 'Software Update' followed by 'Via the Internet'. The Switch does the rest!
It literally updates on its own, just make sure you're online. No ink required!
I just went to the Splatoon 2 icon, hit the plus sign, and selected 'Update via the Internet'. It's as easy as hitting targets in the shooting range.
