Simple! First, you need to have a garden built. Then, make sure you have a character with the Gardening skill. Use your Influence to upgrade it to a farm for more food production!
Just build a garden, level up your Gardening skill, and hit that upgrade button in the base menu. Easy peasy!
In the base menu, select your garden, make sure you have the materials and Influence, then proceed with the upgrade.
