Hero weapons in Splatoon 2 are actually just reskins of existing weapons. To use them in multiplayer, you need to unlock them in the single-player Hero Mode and then purchase their normal counterparts from the weapon shop.

Hero weapons are basically just cool skins. So, play Hero Mode, unlock the weapon, then go show off your style in multiplayer!

You gotta beat each level in Hero Mode with every weapon to unlock hero weapons. Then, they become available as reskins.
