Honestly, Martyr works best as a bluff. Opponents might overcommit to a location thinking they can beat your low power, only for you to drop Martyr in the final turn and snatch the win. It's all about mind games, really.
Just play Martyr last, easy. If you can't keep the total power under 10 before that, maybe rethink if it's the right move.
