Street Fighter X Tekken uses Games for Windows Live (GFWL) for its online play, so you can't directly use Steam servers. However, you can still play with friends through Steam by launching the game from Steam and using the in-game friend invite system.

Make sure your Steam client is running and you're logged in. Then just start Street Fighter X Tekken and it should connect through Steam's servers. Happy fighting!

Nope, can't do it. GFWL all the way.

You can't use Steam servers for Street Fighter X Tekken because it's tied to Games for Windows Live. You might want to look into mods or unofficial patches if you're having trouble with GFWL.
