I've watched Gintama three times, and starting from Episode 1 every time kept the story most coherent for me. Plus, the early episodes are hilarious!
Start with the original series from 2006, follow with the sequels, and make sure to catch all the movies and specials in between!
There's really no "correct" way to watch Gintama鈥攋ust dive in and enjoy the madness! But starting from the beginning is always a good bet.
Honestly, the correct way is whatever keeps you laughing and gasping at the epic battles. Gintama is awesome no matter how you watch it!
