I think it gets a lot of hype, but it has a unique story and memorable characters that justify the praise. Plus, the animation is top-notch!
As someone who's watched it twice, I'd say it deserves the love it gets. The themes of identity and human connection are handled beautifully.
Honestly, it's overrated. The second half of the series wasn't as strong, and it just didn't live up to the initial excitement for me.
