Nope, unfortunately, GTA 5 doesn't support cross-platform play between PS4 and PS5. So, if you're on PS4 and your buddy's on PS5, you both can't play together in the same session. Each console version is kinda like its own little island.

Actually, while GTA 5 doesn't support cross-platform play, you can still enjoy your PS4 version on your PS5 thanks to backward compatibility. So, in a way, you can continue your criminal empire-building seamlessly on a new console, just not directly with friends on different versions.
Honestly, it's not a big deal that GTA 5 ain't cross-platform. The game's still epic on any console, and there's loads of fun to be had solo or with folks on the same platform. Plus, who knows what GTA 6 will bring to the table!
