It's copyright, not production. Helps to know when that specific design got its rights locked down.

Gotta say it's production year. More logical that way.

Honestly, most people don't even notice the difference but yep, it's the copyright year. Knowing this has made collecting them a bit more interesting for me!

The year date on Hot Wheels is super interesting actually! It's based on the copyright year, not when they were actually made. So, when you see a year on the bottom of a Hot Wheels car, it's telling you about the copyright of the design or the specific model line. It's all about when the design was registered, not when the car rolled off the manufacturing line.

If love Hot Wheels, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

Several of those prizes are trending Hot Wheels, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
