Not really, I would focus on upgrading epic and legendary commanders instead.
Lancelot is quick and has great mobility for gathering and early skirmishes, but lacks the punch of legendary commanders.
Lancelot's speed is great for harassing and hunting down gatherers, but he's not top-tier for main battle strategies.
