Not really. It's got some serious themes but overall it's pretty upbeat and inspiring. Great mix, IMO!

My Hero Academia isn't really dark, but it has its intense moments, especially when dealing with villains and heavy themes.

Depends on what you consider dark! Compared to stuff like Attack on Titan or Tokyo Ghoul, it's pretty tame.

I'd say it's more of a balanced shonen series. You get the lighthearted school stuff mixed with some pretty serious and dark arcs.
