Gold Pokemon cards aren't made from real gold, unfortunately. They’re actually made from a plastic core that's covered in a thin layer of metallic gold-colored material. So while they look totally awesome and super valuable, they're not gonna be worth their weight in gold. They do, however, hold a lot of value to collectors because of their rarity and cool design!

They're not real gold, folks. Just a shiny coating over plastic. Still cool for collectors though!

Actually got one in a trade once, expecting a hefty chunk of gold (half-joking). Turned out it's just fancy plastic with a gold-like finish. Was a bit disappointed, but it looks impressive in my collection, so there's that.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
