Some of the rarest Pokemon cards out there include the Illustrator Pikachu, which is pretty much the Holy Grail of Pokemon cards. Then there's the Shadowless Charizard from the base set which can fetch a pretty penny. Don't forget about the Shiny Espeon and Umbreon from the Neo Discovery set; they're like the unicorns of Pokemon cards. And for something more modern, the Rainbow Rare Charizard & Braixen GX from the Cosmic Eclipse set is a stunner.

If we're talkin' rare, you can't skip the First Edition Shadowless Holographic Charizard. Seen one in person once at a local tourney. The thing was in a protective case thicker than the owner's wallet. No touching, no breathing near it, just admiring from a respectable distance.

Honestly, anything shiny and hard to find is rare. But don't listen to the hype, not every old card is worth tons.

Don't forget promo cards! Some event-specific and limited release promo cards are insanely rare. Cards like the 'Pikachu Illustrator' were only given out to contest winners, making them super hard to come by.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
