Actually, the Pokemon video game came first! The original Pokemon games were released for the Game Boy in 1996 in Japan. The Pokemon Trading Card Game didn't hit the shelves until 1996 in Japan and 1998 in the USA. So, gamers got the first taste of catching 'em all before card collectors did!

Cards, obviously... Just kidding! It was the video game that started it all. Without those, we wouldn't even have the cards!

Game first, cards later! The Pokemon video games for the Game Boy were the first to introduce us to the world of Pokemon. The card game was introduced later as a way to expand the Pokemon universe and give fans another way to engage.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
