Not much carries over from Sword Art Online other than Kirito's mad skills, experience, and his relationships with other characters. Maybe a touch of trauma here and there, but hey, it builds character, right?

Basically, Kirito and the rest keep their memories and relationships, but no sweet gear or levels carry over. Bummer!
Hot take: The only thing that really carries over is Kirito being OP in every game he enters.
From my time binge-watching SAO, I can tell you that Kirito carries over his skills and experience between worlds, but no items or levels. All muscle memory!
