In Stardew Valley, chickens chow down on hay. You can either buy it from Marnie's Ranch or, even better, cut it yourself with a scythe from grass you grow on your farm. Just remember to have a silo to store all that hay for the winter!

Pro tip: Letting your chickens out when it's not winter lets them eat grass outside instead of using up your hay stash. Saves a ton of Gold!
