It got a reboot! Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood follows the manga much closer than the 2003 series. Both are amazing though!

Fullmetal Alchemist first came out in 2003 but they made a new, more faithful adaptation called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in 2009.
