Isayama was also inspired by the anime Muv-Luv Alternative and its portrayal of humanity on the brink of extinction. If you liked AoT, you might wanna check that one out too!

From what I've read, Hajime Isayama was significantly inspired by the town where he grew up, which was surrounded by mountains. He imagined what it would be like if something dangerous lived beyond them!

Hajime Isayama, the creator of Attack on Titan, was inspired by a real-life encounter with a drunk customer at a net caf茅 where he worked. The man's erratic behavior and overwhelming strength scared him, inspiring the terrifying nature of the Titans!
