What is the difference between real and fake Pokemon cards?

Real Pokemon cards have a distinct quality you can feel! The texture and color saturation are your first clues. Real cards have a smooth, high-quality feel, and the colors are vibrant but not overly bright. Fake cards often feel flimsy or too stiff and the colors can either be too dull or too sharp. Also, real cards have a thin layer of black between the card layers – just check the edge of a card. If it's missing, you might have a fake on your hands!

One quick test: the light test. Shine a light through the card; if it's real, it should block most light, showing only a bit around the edges. Fakes often let more light through.

Honestly, sometimes there's hardly any difference visually, which makes it tough. But real ones always have that certain finesse in the details – text alignment, font, and even the energy symbol's clarity. Fakes can get close but usually mess up somewhere.

Just buy from official sources lol. Easiest way to avoid fakes.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
