Photosynthesis and respiration are like the yin and yang of the plant world! Photosynthesis converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen using sunlight, while respiration breaks down glucose and oxygen to release energy, carbon dioxide, and water. They’re two sides of the same coin, working together to keep plants—and us—alive.

Photosynthesis makes the food, respiration eats it. Photosynthesis stores energy in glucose, and respiration releases it. Classic teamwork!

Photosynthesis and respiration are like plant BFFs. One makes the goodies (glucose), and the other uses those goodies to keep the plant's energy going!

Having worked in a greenhouse for years, I can tell you, plants need both processes to grow. Without photosynthesis, no food. Without respiration, no energy.
