Only the original 20GB and 60GB PS3 models can play PS2 games natively, thanks to the PS2 chip inside.

The backwards compatibility is limited to the 60GB and some early 80GB PS3 models. After that, you're outta luck!

The 40GB and later models? Nope, no PS2 support there. Stick with the launch versions if you need that compatibility.

The 60GB PS3 is your best bet for playing PS2 games. Make sure to check the model number: CECHCxx or CECHAxx.

I have a 60GB PS3 and it plays PS2 games like a charm! Just make sure it's an early model.

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
