Super Mario Galaxy 2 gives you a green dinosaur named Yoshi to ride. Enough said.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 has a more cohesive storyline and introduces Rosalina and the Comet Observatory, whereas Galaxy 2 focuses more on gameplay with new levels and power-ups. Plus, Yoshi joins the fun in Galaxy 2!

Galaxy 2 is basically an expansion of Galaxy 1 with more challenging levels and the addition of Yoshi. If you loved the first game, you'll probably enjoy the second even more.

From my experience, Galaxy 1 has a better story, but Galaxy 2 has more varied and interesting gameplay. Both are fantastic, though!

Galaxy 2 feels like a level pack for Galaxy 1 but adds Yoshi and new power-ups. If you don't need a strong narrative, go for 2.
