Below Zero has more polished mechanics and a cool new story, but nothing beats the original's sense of wonder and exploration. I'd say, play both!

Below Zero is just an expansion pack with different weather. Stick to the classic Subnautica for the real deal.

Subnautica is better because it's the original and sets the foundation for Below Zero's improvements. Start with Subnautica for the full experience.

Subnautica is the OG experience with a vast underwater world and an amazing story to uncover. Below Zero gives you more of the same but in a colder, maybe even more challenging environment. Both are epic, but if you wanna start, go with the original!
