Honestly, the first few episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood set up the story perfectly, but things get seriously intense around episode 10.

In the original Fullmetal Alchemist, the plot starts moving faster after episode 20. Brotherhood, on the other hand, gets going quicker, so you might prefer that version.
