Pokemon cards, officially known as the Pokemon Trading Card Game, originally hail from Japan. They were first introduced in 1996 by Creatures Inc., and quickly became a global phenomenon. They're part of the vast Pokemon franchise, which spans video games, TV shows, movies, and more. The cards themselves feature Pokemon characters that players use to battle each other, aiming to become the ultimate Pokemon trainer.

Actually, Pokemon cards are the brainchild of Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori, the creators of Pokemon, but it was Creatures Inc. that brought them to life in the form of the TCG. These cards were a hit from the start because they tapped into the already existing love for the Pokemon video games and animated series.

Gotta disagree with the detailed origins; it's all about the gameplay! Those cards came from the brilliant idea to let us fans collect and battle our favorite Pokemon outside of the video games. Who cares about the specifics when the game's this good?

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
