In Starfield, the option to find your parents depends on the choices you make during character creation. If you choose the "Kid Stuff" trait, you'll get to visit them at their home on New Atlantis. Pretty neat way to give them a shout-out, right?

You don't find your parents unless you pick the "Kid Stuff" trait at character creation. Choose wisely!

I went for the "Kid Stuff" trait, and I was able to visit my in-game parents on New Atlantis. It was a fun added layer to the story!
