I'd recommend placing the refinery link near your main ranch area or close to a slime-filled zone you frequently visit. It'll save you a lot of backtracking when you're knee-deep in slimes!

Honestly, the best spot is wherever you feel you need it most! I put mine near the Indigo Quarry because I'm always mining there.
