Mushrooms in Stardew Valley can be found in a few places! The easiest way to consistently get them is by converting your farm's cave to a mushroom cave. Demetrius will visit and offer this choice sometime in your first year. If you pick mushrooms, you'll find different types appearing in there, ready to harvest every couple of days. You can also find mushrooms in the Secret Woods and while foraging in the forest, especially during the Fall. Don't forget, the Mines can also be a good spot, particularly the deeper levels where red and purple mushrooms are more common.

Demetrius never showed up at my farm? Anyway, just hit the Secret Woods or the Mines for mushrooms. Always worked for me.
