I found that selling cargo at the major cities on various planets offers the best deals, plus you can explore while you're at it!
Sell your cargo at any Trading Authority kiosk you find. They're everywhere, and they take almost anything. Happy trading!

From my experience, the spaceports in larger cities give the best bang for your buck when selling cargo. Don't sleep on them!
