The best background in Starfield really depends on your playstyle! If you love combat, go with a Soldier or Bounty Hunter. For exploration enthusiasts, an Explorer or Scientist will suit you much better, granting skills that make discovering planets a breeze. Personally, I chose Diplomat because charisma's my jam, and it really helped with smoother negotiations.
