Honestly, checking the latest is best done online, but I've found most game stores pretty knowledgeable too. Last time I walked in, the clerk gave me the rundown on what's standard, what's leaving soon, and even some deck tips.

They keep an up-to-date list and also share info on upcoming sets that will enter or leave Standard format. Remember, Standard format rotates, so what's in now might not be in a few months!
