The easiest way is to look at the front of the console. If it has a disc drive and vents on top, it's probably an Xbox One.
Look at the power button's shape. A circular one usually means an Xbox 360, while a rectangular one often points to an Xbox One.
Quick tip: If the controller has a big X button in the center and it's bulky, it's an old-school Original Xbox.
