I managed to sell an old, rare card from the 90s for a hefty sum recently. Can confirm, the nostalgia factor is real. People are willing to pay big money for a piece of their childhood, especially if it's something as iconic as Pokemon cards.

Old Pokemon cards are so expensive because they're rare and in high demand. Think about it, when these cards first came out, no one predicted they'd be worth anything significant, so not many were preserved in good condition. Fast forward a few decades, and the nostalgia factor kicks in. All of a sudden, everyone wants a piece of their childhood back, but there just aren't enough mint condition cards to go around. Plus, some of these cards were limited edition or had very short print runs, making them even harder to find today.

Honestly, it's kinda like art collecting at this point. The older and rarer the card, the more expensive it gets. Some of these cards are like finding a Picasso in your attic.

It's all about scarcity and demand, my friends. Fewer mint condition old cards + tons of adults trying to recapture their youth = sky-high prices. Simple economics.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
