You might be unable to land because you're trying to land on gas giants or moons that aren't programmed for landing. Stick to planets with marked landing zones!

Make sure you're at a designated landing area on the planet surface. Not all terrain is safe for landing in Starfield.

I had the same problem. Turns out, I wasn't selecting the correct landing zone on the map. Double-check your map!
