Double-check if Xbox Live is down. Sometimes the problem's on Microsoft's end, not yours.
Make sure your console and your account don't have any outstanding updates or issues. Sometimes it's just a simple system update.
Have you checked if Xbox Live is down? Sometimes the servers go on a little vacation without telling anyone.
Have you tried turning it off and on again? Seriously, power cycling your console can work wonders.
