Check if other apps work fine on WiFi. If not, your WiFi might be at fault, not the game.

Make sure your WiFi connection is solid. Weak signals or too many devices can create problems.

I had the same issue once. Switching my WiFi channel from a crowded one to a less busy one fixed it!
