Check if you have 'General Story Mode' downloaded separately. It's not included in the initial install.
I remember being frustrated too! Turns out, I just needed to restart the game after the download completed.
Hot take: Story Mode’s a bit of a letdown anyway—just jump straight into multiplayer!
Do you have enough free space on your console or PC? Sometimes lack of space can cause issues with downloading the content.
