Capcom changed names to avoid any legal kerfuffle with Mike Tyson. No one wants to fight that lawsuit!

I remember reading that Capcom swapped the names to keep folks from confusing M. Bison with Mike Tyson. Makes sense, right?

Back in the day, the boss character Balrog was originally called M. Bison in Japan, a nod to Mike Tyson. To avoid legal issues, the names of Balrog, Vega, and M. Bison were swapped around for the international release. Quite the name shuffle!
