Why did Fallout 76 get bad reviews?
Fallout 76 launched with a bunch of bugs, performance issues, and a lack of NPC interactions which made the world feel kinda empty. Players expected the rich story and characters Bethesda is known for, but got disconnected server messages instead. Also, there was a lot of controversy over the game's microtransactions and a bag. Yes, a canvas bag, or rather, the lack thereof in a collector's edition that led to backlash.

Honestly, I think people just love to hate on anything new. Sure, Fallout 76 had its rough start with glitches and whatnot, but it's gotten a lot better since then. The devs have been updating it regularly, and the new expansions are pretty cool.
