Storing characters on N64 was like trying to pack your entire wardrobe into a backpack. It just didn't fit!
The N64 version had less storage capacity on its cartridges compared to the CDs used by the PlayStation, so they had to cut some characters.
Nintendo 64 cartridges were like a tiny closet鈥攃ouldn't fit as much in them as the PlayStation CDs!
