One Punch Man's change in character designs was mainly due to a shift in animation studios between seasons. It went from Madhouse in Season 1 to J.C. Staff in Season 2. Different studios, different styles. Simple as that!

Hey, my friend works in animation and says such changes happen often because different studios have their own style. With One Punch Man, the switch from Madhouse to J.C. Staff brought in a different team and hence different designs.

Mostly because they changed the animation studio after season 1. New studio, new look!

Guys, sometimes characters just hit the gym between seasons. I'm kidding, different animation studio took over.
