Lag in Fortnite often happens because of poor internet connection. Try using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi!
Epic Games servers can sometimes have issues, too. Check their status page to see if it's their problem, not yours.
It might be time for a hardware upgrade. If your system is struggling, consider upgrading your CPU, GPU, or RAM.
I used to lag all the time until I realized my router was ancient. Upgraded to a new one and it was smooth sailing!
