People compare them because they both have that open-world RPG vibe with loads of choices that impact the game’s narrative. Also, the quirky humor in The Outer Worlds definitely gives off Fallout: New Vegas vibes.

It's all about Obsidian's magic touch. They developed Fallout: New Vegas and brought that same blend of exploration, choice, and storytelling to The Outer Worlds.

Simple answer: Obsidian made both! The DNA of Fallout: New Vegas is all over The Outer Worlds.

They compare them because sci-fi RPGs are a niche, and the comparisons are inevitable. It's like comparing Star Trek to Star Wars.

Because they're like long-lost cousins! Both games share similar RPG elements, first-person perspectives, and that signature dark humor. Plus, they're both from Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas.
