The 2019 remake gave us the full story the 2001 version couldn't cover. Plus, the animation is absolutely gorgeous!
Because the original anime didn't follow the manga closely enough and fans definitely wanted a more faithful adaptation.
I personally loved seeing the characters and storylines that were left out of the 2001 version. It felt like experiencing Fruits Basket for the first time all over again.
TBH, the original was good, but the remake is great. It's got better graphics, more depth, and stays true to the manga.
