Season 4 of High School DxD, titled Hero, retconned some events from Season 3 to be more faithful to the light novel. The previous season took some creative liberties, which they corrected in Season 4.

Season 4 fixed stuff from Season 3 to match the light novels better. Less confusion and more canonical fun!

They retconned Season 4 to align more closely with the original light novel series, fixing inconsistencies from the earlier anime adaptation.
