Check if your Roku is powered on. It sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how often that's the issue!
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Make sure your HDMI cable is snug as a bug in a rug! Loose cables can cause a black screen.
The black screen of doom can often be fixed with a simple software update on your Roku.
