Because the game devs are merciless! Jokes aside, the challenge is cranked up to make teamwork essential.
If you think 4-man is hard, try soloing a legendary! The more folks you bring, the more the game beefs up the baddies.
I usually play with my buddies, and we notice that enemy AI gets more aggressive and there are more of them.
Honestly, I feel it's easier since you have more teammates to revive you. Might be just me!
